Used Co-codamol, Tramadol and now on MST (Morphine) as pain got so bad. I have had Fibro/Me for 13 going on 14 years now so I have had to increase my painkillers over the years. Hope you can get yours sorted out. Gentle hugs.

Yes I've had Fibro/ME for 14 years too - 14 years too long.............

I will have a chat with my GP as the pain has definitely worsened in the last few months x

Hello Sarah!

I was prescribed Methocarbamol for my RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome), I have Fibro and CFS/ME also. The Methocarbamol works well for my Fibro pains in my arms and legs too. It is a muscle relaxant and works by blocking nerve impulses (or pain sensations) that are sent to the brain. lt is used together with rest and physical therapy to treat skeletal muscle conditions such as pain or injury.

I take two 750mg tablets and within one hour normally my pain has lessened and that awful heavy aching tingling feeling has eased making it bearable.

It might be worth having a chat with your GP about this, seeing your best medical options bearing in mind your other current meds of course. If ever you think your pain and other symptoms aren't being controlled sufficiently, it's always worth having a chat with your GP about this. Life with Fibro is hard enough and it is possible for us to have help for these things.

Thanks Liberty, I will definitely mention the Methocarbamol to my GP and see if he thinks this would work along with the other medication I am on. Just really need something to take the edge off the pain as it is pretty relentless at the moment for some reason and I'm not getting any break from it. Hope you are ok too xx

When I was first prescribed Methocarbamol I was taking much more than I am now. I find having sufficient pain medication i.e. my Methocarbamol and Co-codamol, this is the best combination to help me. I've taken so many things in the past - Tramadol, Gabapenti, Hydroxychloroquinine, Dosulepin, Amitriptyline to name but a few. I have stopped taking all of them and now only have pain relief.

It works well for me as the pain gets me down more and if this is managed well with the above, the fatigue I can manage myself through pacing.

I am pretty good at the moment thanks Sarah, I have gout in my toe, two painful legs but other than that not bad at all. Energy levels are good too thank goodness. It feels as though it's all under control. I hope you are ok and that your next appointment goes well for you, mention the Methocarbamol to see if it's suitable for you and please let me know how you get on. Take care. (((hug))) xxx

Is there anyone whose symptoms manifest primarily as left sided chest pains, mimicking heart problems, Mine suddenly occurred 2 years ago, I have seen cardiologists who say it is not due to my heart,(butnot what it is ) I have seen pain relief consultants, who tell me they have nevere known anything like it. My gp says it is syndrome x, but I think it is more due to my chest wall, I do not tolerate meds very well, nothing seems to work and have been more or less house bound for 2 yrs, any ideas??

Hi Tramadolknight (love the name!). It's not unusual for Fibro pains to manifest anywhere on our bodies, so what you are describing isn't that unusual in terms of Fibro. Chest pains, rib pains are all symptoms.

However, to be on the safe side and to rule out other conditions (eg. Costochondritis - for info see link below), please pop along and see your GP and mention your symptoms. Costochondritis can mimic heart conditions with chest pains and is very common in people with Fibromyalgia.

On the other hand your chest pain could even be your meds causing this with you not swallowing and processing them correctly causing pain. That's why it's always best to check just to make sure.

thanks for the info, but have already tried ibuprofen and also co-codamol to no effect, recently tried tramadol, which seemed to send my bp sky high (which also varies greatly during the day), my gp says tramadol doesent cause high bp but the increase has only happened since taking it, he wants me to take propanolol to combat high bp, but trying b blockers in the past appeared to make the chest pain worse also . I continue to have severe attacks of chest pain, usually, worse at rest and in the evenings accompanied also by severe constricting head pains is this fibro ??

Speak to your GP about Costochondritis though, it might just make them think about this or test you to make sure you haven't got anything else. Always best to check!

Propanolol is a beta-adrenoceptor blocking drug (often referred to as a beta-blocker). lt is a medicine which is used to treat several different problems. It works on the heart and blood vessels.

It sounds like your GP may be leaning towards medication for your heart, have you had any other treatments, scans etc for this?! I may be wrong in this surmise of course.

Bad headaches are also quite common with Fibro, but again best to mention this to your GP to ensure that they aren't being caused by anything else.

Sorry if this is a bit sketchy, but obviously we don't know for sure so advice or pointers in the right direction is all we can advise really. These symptoms do need checking out though TK just to be on the safe side.
