Hi I was diagnosed with RA to begin with then diff. consultant thought it was fibro and booked me into hosp. for a week as lived to far for daily visits. Used hydro pool every morn fo a week doing exercises and relaxing. As soon as i got back to the ward on the bed i'd be asleep. I found it did help a little with the pain and wish i lived nearer to one but did'nt feel sore that i can remember. Now i just have a hot bath as long as hubby around to get me out, i find this helps me to relax and with the pain for a while. Take care soft hugs Marg xx

It didn't work for me. I had a few sessions and felt quite ill after it and had to rest the next day. Too tiring and painful after. However I have heard it works well for others. :)

Hi Steve, I am on my second session of hydrotherepy. It certainly works for me. As they say it feels good at the time but after I have to go for a lie down. Today I did extra work on my knees, I was a wee bit sore for a short while, had a sleep & felt much better . I go to the hydrotherepy pool in Ayr but it doesn't have bubbles as yours havs. Hope it does wonders for you.Fibro Hugs (((O)))

Hi Steve,

I have just finished 4 sessions which is what they said i needed,The water is between 34 to 37 degrees very nice indeed ! The physiotherapist gets in the pool with us there was 3 of us did gentle excercises for about 25 minutes. When i got home i took my painkillers and slept after each session,it has not done me any good at all. Each day afterwards i felt like i had been hit by a bus.

im the same carol, really enjoy it but very tired next day, next and 3rd session next tues,i only get between 2 and 3 hrs sleep each night,i did a emote study for lancaster university(they are testing 100 people who are bi-polar,100 people who have fibromyalgia and 100 healthy people for a placebo,i wore a actiwatch and filled a diary in each day for a week and that was my result that i got an avg of 2.1 hrs of sleep,i get to sore in any 1 position i am constantly moving all night,i just lie resting but am still awake, clock watching.

Hi Steve ,

I know how you feel regarding sleep,it takes forever to get to sleep and then when you do drop off and turn over i am woken up again.Cannot win ! I take 50mg Amitriptyline an hour before bed plus my solpadol and pregabalin.2.1 hours is not enough sleep for us to function properly.I am also taking Cherry Active with a little juice at night,it was my sister who was told to drink it to help her sleep. It is taken by sportsmen to help with their muscles my Gp agreed it won't do any harm.I bought it in Holland and Barrett.Check it out on internet it might help you.

Speak Soon.

Carol :)

The hydropool is in the cumberland hospital in carlisle lynn, its part of the physio dept.they get you to do about 20 mins of exercises then turn on the bubbles in corner of pool, you relax in them for about 10 mins, then you come out, your whole body feels like lead from your legs to your head lol, lasts a few mins.i enjoy it even though im really tired next day,i have a border collie who i take for walks every day,ive had him for 10 yrs(4 healthy 6 unhealthy).glad i have him to take for walks and throw balls to in back garden, stops me from being to much of a couch potato cause you need to do some exercise(do excercises from physio)hope you are having a good day pet.:)

Hi, I have had hydro and continue it in my local Nuffield pool (the temperature is kept higher ther). I am absolutely shattered when I get out, and do feel sore but I persevered and after about 6 sessions (hour a pop) I stopped being so sore. It made a real difference for me which is why I carry on. I'm lucky enough to have a spa pool in with the swimming pool too and that helps after I've done my exercises. Hope it works out for you :o) xx
